SHEIN is a retailer, not a marketplace for agents
SHEIN is a global fast-fashion retailer that sells directly to consumers through its own website and app. It designs, sources and sells large volumes of clothing and accessories, and also hosts third-party sellers in some markets. Either way, you buy from SHEIN directly: it handles payment, shipping, customs paperwork and returns.
A "SHEIN spreadsheet" is therefore just a list of SHEIN products someone liked. Unlike Taobao or Weidian finds, there is no agent, warehouse or QC step, and no second payment for international shipping.
One practical consequence: problems with a SHEIN order are resolved with SHEIN, through its order pages and customer service, not with an agent. Keep your order number and photos of any issue, and start returns or complaints from your account.
SHEIN links are bought directly from SHEIN; no agent involved.
Sizing: SHEIN vs Taobao and Weidian
Sizing is one of the clearest differences between SHEIN and the platforms agents buy from. SHEIN publishes size guides aimed at international customers, with measurements and fit notes on product pages. Taobao and Weidian sellers usually use Chinese sizing, which tends to run smaller than Western sizes, so a Chinese M can fit like a Western S.
| SHEIN | Taobao / Weidian via an agent | |
|---|---|---|
| Size labels | International-style, with a size guide | Chinese sizing, often smaller |
| Measurements | On the product page | Seller's chart, often in Chinese |
| Fit feedback | Buyer reviews with height and weight | Seller notes and other buyers' QC photos |
Whichever you use, compare the measurements in centimetres with a garment you own. That habit prevents most returns. For Taobao and Weidian, the women's page explains Chinese size charts.
SHEIN sizing is built for international buyers; agent finds need closer attention to charts.
Returns and delivery
- Check the return terms for your country. SHEIN shows the return window and whether a return costs anything. Some categories, such as swimwear and underwear, may not be returnable.
- Look at the delivery estimate on each order; options and times differ by country.
- Keep the packaging and labels until you're sure you're keeping an item.
- Start returns within the window from your order page, not by email to a third party.
Returns are simpler than with an agent, but the window and exclusions still matter.
The 2026 EU duty change
Until 30 June 2026, parcels worth up to €150 entering the EU were exempt from customs duty. Since 1 July 2026, the EU applies a temporary flat customs duty of €3 per item on those low-value parcels, planned until 1 July 2028. VAT still applies from the first euro. For fast-fashion orders made up of many inexpensive items, the per-item duty can noticeably change the total, depending on how the order is shipped. In the UK, VAT on parcels up to £135 is charged at the point of sale; in the US, duty-free treatment of low-value parcels ended in 2025.
Since July 2026, check the full checkout total on EU orders with many cheap items.
When an agent route makes more sense
- You want a specific item from a spreadsheet, sold by an independent Taobao or Weidian seller rather than SHEIN.
- You want to see the actual item first. An agent's warehouse QC photos show your item before you pay for international shipping. The QC guide explains what to look for.
- You want a wider range of styles from many small sellers.
- You're combining items from many sellers into one parcel you control.
The agent route takes more steps: you pay for items first, then for shipping, and need to read Chinese size charts. How to order from Oopbuy walks through each step.
SHEIN for convenience and international sizing; an agent for specific finds and QC photos.
Using a SHEIN spreadsheet well
SHEIN lists huge numbers of products and changes them quickly, so links in a spreadsheet go out of date fast. Before buying from a shared list, check that the item is still available in your size, read recent reviews with buyer photos, and look at the fit notes reviewers leave. Treat the spreadsheet as inspiration rather than a guarantee of what's currently on sale.
SHEIN links age quickly; check stock and recent reviews before buying.
Reading SHEIN reviews for fit
SHEIN's reviews are unusually useful for sizing because many reviewers add their height, weight and the size they bought, along with a note on whether it ran small, true or large. A few habits make them more useful:
- Filter for reviews with photos to see how the item looks on real people.
- Find reviewers with a similar build and note which size they chose.
- Look for repeated fit comments, such as "runs small in the chest", rather than single opinions.
- Check material notes; fabric thickness and stretch affect fit as much as the size label.
Reviewers with your measurements are the best size guide SHEIN has.

FAQ
Do I need an agent for SHEIN?
No. SHEIN sells directly to consumers in many countries with its own checkout, shipping and returns.
Is SHEIN sizing like Taobao sizing?
Not usually. SHEIN publishes size guides aimed at international buyers, while Taobao and Weidian sellers use Chinese sizing that typically runs smaller. Always check the measurements.
How do SHEIN returns work?
SHEIN shows its return window and any return cost for your country at checkout and in your order. Some items, such as swimwear or underwear, may be excluded.
Does the 2026 EU duty affect SHEIN orders?
Since 1 July 2026, the EU applies a temporary flat customs duty of €3 per item on low-value parcels from outside the EU. Compare the checkout total, as the effect depends on how the order is shipped.
When is Taobao through an agent better than SHEIN?
When you want a specific independent seller's item from a spreadsheet, a wider range, or to see your actual item in QC photos before it ships.
